Read all About their Horwood House Wedding!

This was my first time shooting at the gorgeous Horwood House and it provided a stunning big day for the happy couple!

I’ve known Mr and Mrs Freeman for a couple of years now, they’re friends of ours and this meant that my Fiancé was a bridesmaid for Mrs Freeman, which was nice but a bit weird for me at the same time!

Back to the day in question, Mrs Freeman was the main lady behind this event, along with her mum they put on quite the wedding! Mr Freeman, as most grooms do, took a backseat for a bulk of the planning, so you can imagine the surprise when whilst we were going round on our couple shoot, halfway through their big day, Mr Freeman started reeling off all of these opportunities that he’d obviously been thinking about. I knew Mrs Freeman was going to be awesome but I didn’t expect the artistic direction (and damn good it was too) from Mr Freeman!

Bridal prep was really chilled, and the girls had a great laugh. There was a touch of last minute mayhem, but it would be boring if it went swimmingly! I joined the guests ready for the ceremony and Mr Freeman was certainly feeling the nerves, Mrs Freeman on the other hand took it all in stride and got down that aisle smiling from ear to ear. Their ceremony was beautiful and had two lovely readings

After the ceremony we took advantage of the copious amounts of photograph worthy scenery and got all of their couple shots and some group shots too.

After their super tasty wedding breakfast came the tear-inducing speeches, followed by a fantastic party, enjoyed by all, including myself!

Thank you both so much for letting me be part of it, I had such a nice day and I truly appreciate it

These are the guys that made their day that little bit more special

The Hair Book, Northampton – Natalie was on hair styling duties and Julliet Cunnington was on makeup, although they both run separate companies they both worked so well together and they definitely deserve the credit they’ve learnt. They were fun, happy, positive and helpful. I would unreservedly recommend them both

The groomsmen got their suits from Suitors, Northampton and the stunning bridal gown was from Shop for Brides, Daventry.

The simply stunning voice of Charlotte Campbell was provided for the end of the ceremony and throughout the drinks reception

They hired the awesome photographic guest book from The Guest Factor

What was completely different to what you expected?

The day itself was certainly more than I could of ever imagined, as for the planning process I have to thank my mum for all of her help and support, as without her there wouldn’t of been a wedding! She did everything from the centerpieces, cake and bouquet to the organisation and planning we certainly couldn’t of done it without her. I certainly wasn’t expecting her to do as much as she did. She went above and beyond to make our day everything we wished for and she definetly succeeded.

What advice would you give to future bride and grooms?

Don’t forget to to take some time away from the party together. Your special day will fly by and with so many guests to mingle with its easy to forget to have some time together to take it all in. I would definetly recommend getting a videographer as well as a photographer because there will be parts of the day that you didn’t see or missed and it’s a lovely way to see everything as it was happening and see all your guests reactions as you walk down the Aisle to make those important vows.

Do you have any cost saving ideas for future bride and grooms?

DIY!!! where possible do as much as you can yourself or rope in family and friends to help you this is a great way to save money in the long run and is also a lovely way to give your day some beautiful personal touches. YouTube will become your best friend as you can get tutorials for almost everything from makeing your own bridal bouquet and wedding favours to making your wedding cake. I was lucky enough to have my wonderful mum take on my bridal bouquet and wedding cake, she watched alot of tutorials and made lots of practice cakes (which I ate) in preparation for the main event and I couldn’t of asked for anything better she did an amazing job. Atificial flowers is also a good way to save as wedding flowers are so expensive. All my bridesmaids had artificial flowers and we just wrapped ribbon around the stems and they looked beautiful. EBay is a excellent way to search suppliers for wedding favours ect and at very reasonable prices. Also keep an eye out for bridesmaid dresses on eBay as you can find designer dresses for very low prices and in good condition as they have only been worn once before. Join as many Wedding selling pages on Facebook as possible it’s a great way to buy decorations from people that no longer need them after there weddings and another handy way to search suppliers. If you have a discount app or something similar then keep your eyes open for some great deals on Venue packages and even venue dressing packages. I actually found our venue De Vere Horwood Estate on Groupon and got an amazing deal for the entire day. It can be alot of work when doing it yourself but if wanting to cut costs and save money for the most important things to you on your big day then I personally think this is the best way.

How did you meet?

We met through a mutual friend on a night out. It was a month before my 18th birthday and now 11 years down the line we are married with two beautiful children. I feel very lucky.

How did you/they propose?

He proposed on Christmas day morning, the children had finished opening their mountain of pressents and that’s when he got down on one knee and popped the question. I couldn’t believe it and the children were jumping all around us chanting ‘your gonna get married’ over and over (good job I said yes then.) It was lovely couldn’t of asked for anything better. You here all of these extravagant proposals but all you need is each other.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Enjoy it!! Your wedding is most likely to be one of the most stressful and best times in your life and once it’s over you won’t no what to do with yourself ( I know I certainly didn’t) so make the most of every single process. If you’re not going straight on your honeymoon then take try to take some time together the next day. We had a lovely overnight spa day and it was definetly needed after all the exitment and stress, is was lovely to just relax together.
