The Greatest Barn – A Wedding at The Great Barn Aynho
Sometimes, you just click with a couple, don’t you? Having shot Barry’s sister’s wedding a couple of years back, I already knew this was going to be a special day. Their family is the kind that makes you feel instantly welcome, and Aunt Ali—who absolutely loves (not) being in front of the camera—was no exception. There’s something truly heartwarming about arriving at a wedding and being greeted not just as a photographer, but as a friend.
The Venue: The Great Barn Aynho
Oh, this venue is flipping wonderful. The Great Barn in Aynho is a dream to shoot at. It’s effortlessly charming, with rustic stone walls, warm wooden beams, and beautiful natural light pouring in through the large barn doors. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t need much decoration to look stunning—it just is stunning.
From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be a day to remember. The bridal prep was full of excitement, laughter, and some seriously emotional moments. Bridal prep was just a group of Helens best friends living their absolute best lives.
Photography at The Great Barn Aynho
Shooting at The Great Barn is a balancing act—it’s a venue that lends itself so beautifully to photography that I have to remind myself that it’s a wedding day, not just a photoshoot. Honestly, I could’ve spent hours capturing every tiny detail, every golden-lit moment, every candid laugh. But that’s not what it’s all about, is it?
Their wedding ceremony was so lovely, with those super happy nerves creating a giddiness in Helen. Although Barry is the absolute king of cool you could see on his face what it meant to him.
The Drinks Reception
After the ceremony, the drinks reception was in full swing, and what a setting for it. Guests spilled out onto the barn’s beautifully kept grounds, basking in the golden afternoon sunshine, glasses of bubbly in hand. Laughter and conversation filled the air as canapés made their way around, and the newlyweds took a moment to soak it all in—stealing a quiet moment together before being swept up in the celebrations. The live music added the perfect relaxed vibe, creating an atmosphere that was equal parts elegant and effortless. The clinking of glasses, heartfelt congratulations, and warm summer breeze made this a drinks reception to remember.
Speeches and a Sunset of Dreams
Straight after a simply delicious wedding breakfast it was time for the speeches. They were great fun and the room was loud with laughter. After the speeches concluded the sky decided to provide what I can only describe as one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. Golden hour was an absolute delight!
The Party
And what a party it was. Confetti flew, champagne flowed, and the dance floor was packed from the first song. The barn was aglow with twinkling lights, and the love and energy in the room were just infectious. These are the weddings I liveto capture—the ones that make you want to put your camera down just for a second and soak it all in.
This was a wedding full of heart, joy, and the kind of moments that make you stop and appreciate how incredible love really is. I just know their friends and families will be looking back at this day with so many happy memories. And as for me? I’ll be looking forward to the next time I get to capture a love story as beautiful as this one at The Great Barn Aynho.
