Wood Farm, Everdon
Mr and Mrs Lee’s Incredible Big Day
So there was excitement from everyone at wood farm, when I say everyone I mean exactly that. The bride and groom were clearly the most excited. So were the florists (garden of weedon), the registrar’s, the DJ’s (crazy horse entertainment), the wedding organiser, the venue owner, the caterers (taste) and of course… ME! Because this was a pretty special day for all of us, we were involved in the venues first ever wedding and I can tell you that doesn’t happen very often!
Arriving at Wood Farm you get a real sense of how stunning and serene the venue is. The long driveway that is seemingly leading you to nowhere leads you straight to the gorgeous converted barn. After getting a few scenic shots I headed up to the bridal prep room. Now I never know what I’m going to find on the other side of the bridal prep door, is it going to be a mass of stress and panic or will it be a chilled out bride taking it all in her stride. Thankfully it was the latter!! Mrs Lee chose the wonderful Tina B Beauty on makeup duties… brides, if you’re looking for a MUA that keeps calm and loves all things wedding I’d highly recommend her!
The Wedding Ceremony
Mrs Lee was now rocking her stunning dress from Bonsoir Bridal. Mrs Lee was given away by her two sons (I know, too cute!!) and proceeded down by her sister and daughter. The registrar’s were familiar faces not only to myself but to Mr Lee and his brother as they were the registrar’s that had married Mr Lee’s brother a couple of years back. The couple looked like they had the best time saying their vows. There was some pretty huge smiles from the pair of them, trying to concentrate on their vows but not being able to take their eyes off of each other.
The Wedding Breakfast and Speeches
The food was LUSH!! I was very kindly provided the full 3 course meal that the guests enjoyed and it was amazing. My job is 50% providing lifelong memories for the couples and 50% enjoying the food at weddings. The speeches were perfect, the groom, brides sister and grooms brother each spoke. They had just the right amount of emotion and laughter each, including the groom’s rendition of ‘let’s get it on’ by Marvin Gaye!
I wasn’t warned that we were in the presence of some of the worlds most talented dancers, with flossing galore and the worm being thrown around like it was 1980’s downtown Brooklyn. The guests certainly enjoyed themselves and with almost everyone on the guest list on the dance floor it was a great atmosphere. The first dance was gorgeous and the evening saw the arrival of sambuca shots and a choreographed routine from the groom and his friends, much to Mrs Lee’s amusement!
Everdon is one of my favourite places to visit, the woods are gorgeous and full of adventure for me and my family, the kids love it because it’s so vast and only a few minutes drive from Daventry. I’ve shot a few engagement shoots in the woods too, we once got lost on the hottest day of the year which was fun! So you’d be forgiven for thinking that the venue might have a few teething problems, but it didn’t, it was a perfect day, extremely well organised and the couple had the best time possible.
If you’ve booked in at Wood Farm for your big day then you’re in for a real treat, I can’t wait for my next couple of bookings there, we’re going to have so much fun!
I’m not a wedding snob, I love photographing a small, intimate wedding in the middle of a field just as much as a large stately home wedding… but, it’s not possible to find a bad backdrop at this venue. I’m always a bit hesitant to ask the obligatory question ‘where is off limits?’ to the wedding organiser, but I was told ‘nowhere really, you can go anywhere!’ Which of course is music to my ears, subsequently making me love this place even more!

Any Special Shout outs?
**I promise I didn’t ask for this!!** You was great on the day patients with me even when I think I was getting abit stressed. Great with the kids to. Great person to have as the photographer. Felt like he was a wedding guest more than a photographer and that what you need on the day!!! Got along with everyone. Someone you want at every event.
The dj was good too, funny, helpful and got people dancing and I was worried they wouldn’t. They made the venue look amazing too. Played some good songs and very friendly.
Your Review of Wood Farm at Everdon?
Fantastic venue so beautiful with a lot if character. The views are amazing. It’s tucked away in the country side yet not to far away from a town. The grounds around it breathtaking and inside the venue is perfect. I couldn’t have wished for a prettier place to be married in.
