The Woodlands at Hothorpe is a dream setting for couples who love the beauty of nature, and this wedding was no exception—despite the weather throwing us a few surprises along the way! Nestled among towering trees, this stunning venue provided the perfect rustic backdrop for a day filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and a few unexpected twists that made it all the more special.
Embracing the Unexpected
If there’s one thing we can’t control on a wedding day, it’s the weather—but sometimes, a little rain only adds to the story. Despite a few showers, the couple embraced every moment, making the most of the cosy indoor spaces and the natural beauty that surrounded them. The rain only added to the intimate and magical feel of the day, and when the skies cleared for a short while, we made sure to sneak outside for some gorgeous woodland portraits.
The Funniest Flower Man & A Lively Reception
One of the most unforgettable moments of the day? The ‘flower man’! Breaking tradition, the couple had a flower man instead of a flower girl, and he absolutely stole the show. Walking down the aisle with a basket of petals in hand, he confidently tossed them into the air, making guests laugh before the ceremony even began. It was a brilliant, personal touch that perfectly reflected the couple’s fun-loving spirit.
The energy carried on into the evening as guests enjoyed a round of the classic Mr & Mrs game. Laughter filled the room as the newlyweds answered hilarious questions about each other, with their friends and family eagerly watching to see who got it right
Cosy Moments & Toasted Marshmallows
The Woodlands at Hothorpe is all about its relaxed, rustic charm, and nothing summed this up more than the evening’s marshmallow roasting. As the night drew in, guests gathered around the firepit, toasting marshmallows and sharing stories under the fairy lights. There’s something so special about these little moments—the ones where you can step back, take it all in, and see the day for what it really is: a celebration of love, laughter, and the people who mean the most.
