This wasn’t the first time I’ve photographed a wedding at Mythe Barn and I’m sure I’ll be back soon, but this is the first time I was greeted by a cardboard cut out of the couples dog, dumb and dumber (the film) table names and the first time that I’ve witnessed a bride doing the limbo.
Ceremony at Mythe Barn
I recently ran a poll to see which part of a wedding day couples prefer, ceremony or reception? By a narrow margin the reception came out as the winner. Whilst I love every part of a wedding I would probably agree, the reception is the most fun part. But as fun as the reception is it doesn’t hold a shimmer of emotion compared to the sheer delight displayed on Gillians Dad’s face. Or the celebratory clenched fists of Paul as he nailed his vows. As a sort of side-note, one of the readings they had in their ceremony was a poem which inspired an Artic Monkeys song (Paul is a huge fan) and it was such a nice touch.

So give me a happy couple and I’ll give you some images to cherish. Give me a couple like Gillian and Paul and I’ll have a field day, aside from how stylish Paul looked (yeah that’s Gucci he’s wearing on his feet) and how stunning Gillian looked, they also had great taste and all of the details looked beautiful and almost every part of their day was under the veil of humour.
Following their family formal photos we took a short tour of the grounds. Luckily running into the farmer who was happy to let us use his field. It was a piece of cake and we were back to wedding in no time, with Gillian and Paul ready to mingle and EAT!
